This is a gently used copy of the motion picture sountrack of the 1971 blaxploitation film, Shaft, composed and performed by Isaac Hayes. The album is mostly instrumental tracks, with three vocal selections. Commercially, this soundtrack was the most successful album of Hayes' career, and the best selling LP ever released under the Stax Label. At the time of its release it peaked at #1 on the Billboard charts, and spent 60 weeks on the charts. It achieved Platinum status within one week of its release. In 1972, the "Theme from Shaft" won the Grammy for Best Engineered Recording, Non-Classical and Best Instrumental Arrangement, amongst other awards. In 2014, the album was added to the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being culturally, historically and/or aesthetically significant.
