This was the album that propelled Turner into solo star, as it became a worldwide success commercially, earning multiple platinum certifications. In 2020, the album was also selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Recording Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". Album singles include the chart topping "What's Love Got to Do With It", "Let's Stay Together", "Better Be Good To Me", and "I Can't Stand the Rain".
